Investigating the Synergistic Effect of Electrochemical Texturing and MoSeC Coatings on the Frictional Behaviour of Lubricated Contacts

The materials used for the piston cylinders of automobile engines, or ring and tappets various mechanical components, are continuously experiencing lubricated sliding motions. These surfaces prone to damage due tribological aspects friction wear. Hence, enhancing their surface properties would contribute increasing life saving energy resources. For many decades texturing coating technology have been studied improve behaviours materials. In present study, steel was textured with electrochemical processing (ECP) post-coating transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) using a molybdenum-selenium-carbon (MoSeC) film. A comparative study conducted investigate synergistic effect frictional on surface. block-on-ring experiments were performed under conditions understand improvement COF at different lubrication regimes. It has seen that MoSeC-coated circular patterns exhibited improvements in all if compared smooth surfaces.
